Root Cut is a blog about liberatory insight, examined experience, and the unmaking of suffering.
The name comes from the idea that insight usually doesn’t work by accumulation-of-something, but by removal—cutting close to the root. Negation and unknowing, rather than adding something.
The previous name of this blog, streamentries, was an ambiguous pun between stream-of-consciousness and stream-entry. In a sense, root cut begins where that left off.
I write from a blend of contemplative practice, phenomenology, systems thinking, and clear-eyed pragmatism. Topics include perception, craving, ethics, attention, economics, power, friendship, and how all these knot together.
The tone is meant to and/or hopefully be honest, direct, clear.
